We found this place by chance when driving across spain. This was a great surprise. The food was excellent and the surroundings are very relaxing, with the Castille canal flowing right next to the restaurant.

So after reading the reviews I wasn’t sure what to expect. Upon arrival I was pleased to find that it’s just as beautiful as the pictures. There is a canal that runs next to the restaurant/hotel, and It’s very peaceful. We sat outside and enjoyed the sunset while we sipped on our beer. Then we had dinner in the restaurant. Dinner starts at 9:30 but we were told that if we wanted anything to eat before then, just to ask. Our dinner started with an appetizer, Queso de Cabra a la plancha. It should be called, ”amazing.” Its sheep cheese with caramelized onions. The vinegar drizzle leaves you wanting more as the sweet onion compliments it perfectly. We had to try the Pimentos de Padron. We had to try these, never having had them before, and they were worth the gamble. Then we tried Alcachofas.. artichoke hearts. Drizzled in a finger licking good gravy and bits of jamon. My husband had the Costilla de terna. He loved his ribs... super tender!! We then finished our meal with cheesecake and a brownie. Both were amazing!!! The cheesecake is like no other. It’s not your typical cheesecake. It’s very smooth, creamy and light all at once. The food did not disappoint nor did the location. The rooms are simple and clean. Bonus.. furry friend allowed. We did not ride the canal, but we were ok with that. You do drive a dirt road for a short period to get to the hotel. It’s a good dirt road , no pot holes. 100% enjoyable!

My wife and I arrived as Luis, the owner, was finishing up lunch service. I asked if we could eat, and Luis assured us we could. My wife and I each had the cod--from Finland, if you're wondering--and it was fantastic. The sauce sealed the deal I had a salad of local tomatoes and they couldn't have been fresher or juicier. Luis showed us where to store our bikes. We got to our room and we were struck by its simple elegance. The bathroom was modern with updated fixtures. After 2 nights of hearing drunken revelers staggering in the streets on and off well into the night in Madrid and through the night in Burgos, the peace and quiet of this lovely property beside a canal and well off the road made Carrecalzada one of our favorite places to eat and stay on our journey.
